Historical Belle | It Took Me Three Years to Make this Dress: Mermaid Formal Dress @HistoricalBelle | Uploaded September 2024 | Updated October 2024, 16 hours ago.
This dress has been 3 years in the making....I was originally going to make this dress in 2020 for my Senior Formal, but when my formal got canceled due to Covid, the fabric, patterns, and plans just sat on a shelf. Some people told me to go ahead and just make it at the time, but I just couldn't bring myself to do it. I would quite literally be all dressed up with no where to go. But I hoped that an opportunity would present itself in the future that would be the perfect time and event to make and then wear this dress to, so I held onto it.

Fast-forward 3 years and my husband and I are planning to go on a cruise to the Bahamas. The last night of the cruise was the unofficial Elegant Night. It was perfect. I would get to wear my mermaid dress upon the sea!! It was better honestly then I could have dreamed. On Elegant Night, everyone put on their best clothes for dinner. My husband wore his tux with tails, and I got to wear my mermaid inspired formal dress, and then I got to feast upon a lovely Italian dinner onboard a cruise ship with my husband was a fantastic experience.
