Israeli property developer Gal Bieber, 45, and his wife Roni were arrested on Koh Samui in a wider investigation into alleged nominee-shareholder arrangements involving foreign-owned businesses and property. The Samui Provincial Court reportedly issued arrest warrants for 20 Israeli nationals suspected of using Thai shareholders to conceal foreign control. Investigators allege the network was used to acquire, develop and rent luxury properties and operate restricted businesses, including an international school and pool villas. Roni Bieber denied wrongdoing and said the couple relied on guidance from a Thai lawyer and accountant when setting up and operating their companies. The pair were released on bail while authorities continue tracing financial transactions, examining other suspects and pursuing possible asset seizures.
