In Gaza at least 28 Palestinians have been killed and dozens of others injured after an Israeli strike on a school being used as a shelter, according to the Palestinian Red Crescent.

The Israeli military claimed it had struck a terrorist command and control centre inside the building - but witnesses said the attack hit a meeting of aid workers.

Six people were killed and 15 others were injured in a separate strike on a clinic in Gaza City.

And at the Jabalya camp - which has been under continuous bombardment for five days, another 4 people were killed. Israel claimed the deaths included Hamas and Islamic Jihad fighters.

And three Israeli soldiers are reported to have been killed in northern Gaza.
