Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu has promised to retaliate against Iran following an escalation in hostilities overnight.

More than 180 ballistic missiles were fired at Israel, according to local officials, most of which were intercepted by its defence systems.

Iran said the attack was in response to the killing of Hezbollah and Hamas leaders and Israeli strikes in Lebanon.
