Hezbollah rockets have hit the northern Israeli city of Haifa in the heaviest barrage fired at the port city since the start of the war in October last year.

The group launched an initial salvo of 85 rockets at around 12:45pm local time, followed by a second of around 20 rockets minutes later.

Most of the projectiles were intercepted but some hit the city’s suburbs, with shrapnel injuring a woman in her 70s .

The attack came shortly after Hezbollah’s deputy commander gave a televised address, in which he claimed that the group’s capabilities remained intact despite weeks of Israeli airstrikes.
