The Island Swim is a 3.8k charity swim around Kings Island in the heart of Limerick City. Each September swimmers flock to the Island Swim, a most picturesque swim that brings you up the famous Abbey river where historically men worked on angling cots, a native limerick boat. Once around the top of the Island you swim back to the city where you get a panoramic view of Limerick including sites such as Thomond Park, Thomond Bridge, King Johns Castle, St Mary's Cathedral and the city as it heads out to the Estuary were the next stop is America. Each year the John Dempsey Perpetual Memorial trophy goes to a person, group or company who has been a key contributor in the promotion of open water swimming in Limerick. Every year we get help from all the rowing clubs, Kayaking clubs and people who have boats on the river. Even though the the first 1.5 k is tough, the hardest part is finishing the swim and leaving that panoramic view of Limerick and its of 100's of years of history behind. No wonder people beg to be invited back to this swim

Wykonawcy ożywiają bohaterów poprzez taniec, opowiadanie historii, muzykę i maski.
