The vocal parts used in this video are very close to my heart. Legendary Ustad Shafqat Salamat Ali Khan from Sham Chorasi Gharana sang this song especially for me in a private gathering when we first met in Los Angeles back in 2018 during my cycling trip through the Americas.
This original version of ISHQ ANOKHRI by Ustad Shafqat had been my favorite for more than fifteen years, so I requested him to sing it after dinner. And when he started singing, I couldn't control my emotions. It was the performance of a lifetime. Even he mentioned it himself. And all without any accompanying instruments or a recording device. It was mind-blowing. I have never experienced such a performance in my life again and probably will never in the future.
Luckily, Ustad Shafqat had allowed me to record it on my phone. It is one of the most precious recordings I have from my entire journey. I often listen to it and always get mesmerized by it.
This video only used a few seconds of that song. One day, I might post the song audio, but I will have to take permission from Ustad Shafqat.
