Hull based duo Ishiki bring a fresh sound to life with their debut release Iridana. Building softly layered melodies intertwined through a warm atmospheric Piano sound, the track combines sparse reflectiveness with an intuitive crafting of sound.
Taking inspiration from Ambient Electronic music as well as the open artistry of Minimalism, Jazz and non-Western music, the duo underlines a distinctive combination of acoustic and electronic textures with the emotional push of a ringing melody.
The different methods of the duo’s two members create a dialogue of musical and emotive processes.
Sam Mavor extends Piano melodies and rich harmonies throughout the duo’s pieces, integrating its sound with meditative and innately human character.
James Rushworth creates whirling movements around, within and throughout the sound of the Piano, integrating percussive and rhythmic specks within a delicately arranged spectrum of non-musical textures.
