Learning guitar as an adult can be harder for one reason nobody talks about enough… ego.
As a guitarist who’s been playing for over 50 years, I’ve seen adult beginners quit, freeze up, or avoid practicing because they’re afraid of making mistakes. But here’s the truth: kids learn faster because they’re willing to sound bad and make mistakes.
A 12-year-old learning guitar doesn’t care if they miss a chord or mess up a strumming pattern. They laugh, try again, and keep going. Adults often overthink every mistake and may let embarrassment block progress.
