Healthy cat weight range:
• Most adult cats: 8–12 pounds (breed-dependent)
• Overweight = 20% over ideal weight
• Underweight = visible ribs, spine, or muscle loss
Why cat weight matters:
• Obesity in cats increases the risk of diabetes, joint pain, and a shorter lifespan
• Underweight cats may have underlying issues like dental disease, kidney disease, or parasites
Tips for cat weight management:
• Offer portion-controlled meals (200-300 calories per day for an adult cat!)
• Limit excess treats
• Encourage play and activity (yes, even leash walks!)
