Could your DJI Mini 5 Pro propellers be developing hidden cracks?
After watching my previous video, Stephen contacted me and shared close-up photos of what appear to be microcracks around the hinge pins on several of his Mini 5 Pro propellers.
The concerning part is that the marks are located on the underside of the propellers. This means they may be difficult to detect during a normal inspection while the propellers are attached to the drone.
In this video, I examine Stephen’s findings, discuss what could potentially be causing the damage and remove the propellers from my own DJI Mini 5 Pro to inspect the same areas.
At this point, there is not enough evidence to determine whether this is:
• Damage caused by previous impacts
• Stress created when the propellers are folded
• A material or manufacturing problem
• An issue affecting a specific production batch
• A wider DJI Mini 5 Pro propeller problem
Stephen’s example does not prove that every Mini 5 Pro is affected. However, it shows why checking only the blade edges may not be enough.
If you discover similar marks or cracks, do not fly with those propellers. Take clear close-up photos, preserve the propellers and report the issue directly to DJI.
Please share your findings in the comments, including whether your drone has experienced an impact and, if possible, its production date.
Thanks to Stephen for documenting the issue and allowing me to share his material.
