In 2006, Hit Parader published a list of the top 100 metal vocalists that I felt for years since first discovering it would make for great reaction material because of how dated, pandering and inaccurate a lot of the list is. And while I was visiting Atticus during a trip I made to Florida, I had him react to the list with me while I read what was written in the magazine for the first time.

By no means do we think most of the people or the bands they are from that are featured here are bad, but these problems become extremely apparent the further you get into it. I’ve never been someone that likes categorizing hard rock as being a metal genre, and maybe if Hit Parader called this the “Top 100 Greatest Hard Rock Vocalists”, there wouldn’t be as much problems, but the list being dated and pandering would still be valid criticisms to have. We are admittedly looking at this from a 2024 perspective, but we try to put ourselves in a 2006 perspective when analyzing the list.
