Phaser can be a really extreme sounding effect, but it doesn't have to be. The STAGE control on PH-3 allows you to select the number of stages to the phasing effect, each stage being a filter your signal is passed through. The more stages, the more pronounced the effect is. The more pronounced the effect, the more likely you will get side eyes from the rest of your band, unless they are into that kind of thing (hopefully they are).
