Now, does supporting animal exploitation today deductively prove that you would’ve supported slavery?
Of course not.
But if you’re currently participating in a system of exploitation and commodification toward sentient beings because it’s normal, convenient, and socially accepted, especially when you don’t need to, that fact may serve as evidence that you are not as resistant to normalized injustice as you imagine.
At the very least, it should make you a little less confident that you would’ve been one of the people standing against a different normalized injustice in the past.
