Last night I opened a box I hadn’t touched in years.
Inside were a few forgotten pieces of my life—an old Sony MiniDisc player, two iPod Nanos, a clunky hard-drive music player… little time capsules from a different era.
On a whim, I popped a fresh AA battery into the MiniDisc, grabbed a Bruce Springsteen album, and went for a run.
And something strange happened. Weird actually...
The sound was warm. Punchy. Alive. Even through a cheap pair of headphones, it didn’t matter. The music felt closer. More physical. More real.
But it wasn’t just the sound.
Somewhere along that run… I felt lighter.
Not faster. Not stronger. Just… lighter.
Like I’d stepped back into a version of myself I hadn’t seen in a long time.
No apps. No notifications. NO ENDLESS CHOICES.
Just one album… and the road ahead.
I didn’t expect much from a piece of old tech.
Maybe it’s not about going back…
Maybe it’s about remembering what made us feel alive in the first place.
