Israelis on Monday marked the first anniversary of the devastating Hamas-led Oct. 7 attacks that triggered a war which has sparked protest worldwide and risks igniting a far wider conflict in the Middle East. Kamran Bokhari, a foreign policy expert in Washington, says what happened on Oct. 7, 2023, was ‘unprecedented’ adding that the impending U.S. election has complicated efforts to bringing the conflict to a close.
