The PSIO is an SD card flash cart for the PlayStation 1 which has been around a long time. Delays in firmware updates and new DRM have put a lot of buyers off, however - especially compared to the X-Station. Most videos about the PSIO are quite old, however and with the new firmware finally released, I thought I would take one for the team and see how competitive it is in 2026. In this video I go through the purchase process, install the switchboard into my PS1 and test a bunch of games. I'll be focusing on Net Yaroze, homebrew releases and games that are difficult to emulate or demanding on the system.
