In this video, I review and test the Milwaukee M18 FPD3 M18 FUEL™ percussion drill.
I weigh the tool with an M18 B5 battery fitted, go through its controls and features, cover the main technical specifications, and test it using both HSS and flat wood-drilling bits. I then share my practical pros, cons and overall thoughts.
⚠️ CORRECTION AND CLARIFICATION
During the Pros & Cons section, I incorrectly state that the drill does not have an anti-kickback system. The Milwaukee M18 FPD3 does feature AUTOSTOP™ anti-rotation protection, which shuts the tool down when it detects sharp movement during a bind-up. Milwaukee states that it stops after 45° of sharp movement.
I also refer to an “all-metal gearbox” during the feature overview. Milwaukee’s official specification confirms a 13 mm metal chuck, but does not describe the complete gearbox as all-metal. That statement should therefore not be treated as an official technical specification.
The Milwaukee M18 FPD3 offers:
• Up to 158 Nm maximum torque
• Two-speed gearbox with up to 2,100 rpm
• Up to 33,000 bpm in percussion mode
• Compact 175 mm body
• 13 mm metal chuck
• AUTOSTOP™ bind-up protection

• REDLINK PLUS™ electronics
• Compatibility with Milwaukee M18™ batteries
• Integrated LED work light and battery fuel gauge
With the M18 B5 5.0 Ah battery fitted, the tool measured approximately 2.23 kg on our scale.
