The luxury resale market used to be a place to have fun, to track down bags or pieces that you missed from seasons before, or to grab a bargain on the bag of your dreams. I used to have so much fun searching the preloved market for, mainly, Louis Vuitton bags that came before I could afford to buy them. Then lockdown hit and luxury fashion, luxury sales in general, exploded, there was a bubble and such a hype around luxury handbags and fashion, when those of us who normally loved to travel and enjoy hobbies, found ourselves with extra cash and nowhere to go - spark the birth of a frenzy, a luxury resale market that hit heights not seen before and the prices of bags went through the roof. The world has changed since then though, we have our lives back, our interests, travel. Add to that a global economic cost of living crisis, and inevitably, like any bubble of hype, it burst and luxury resale has slowed down considerably to the point at one stage it was practically dead, stagnant, and it was no longer a race to buy preloved bags for far above the retail price. In this video, I take a look at where the luxury resale market stands now, is it stagnant or is it simply back to where it should be, back to a second hand, preloved market where bags are bought at a bargain and you have time to think before swiping the credit card.
