Several owners have reported unexplained crashes involving possible propeller failures. I took a closer look at the Mini 5 Pro’s new propeller design to see what could be happening.
At first, I assumed this was an isolated incident. But after looking further into it, I found multiple reports involving original DJI propellers.
In this video, I take a closer look at the new quick-release propeller design on the DJI Mini 5 Pro and investigate whether the way the propellers fold, lock and are handled could potentially contribute to a failure.
I also compare the Mini 5 Pro propeller design with the older screw-mounted system used on the DJI Mini 4 Pro.
I was not able to reproduce the failure on my own Mini 5 Pro, so this video is not proof that there is a design defect. But it does highlight something Mini 5 Pro owners should pay close attention to.
Before every flight, inspect your propellers carefully and check for damage, unusual movement or gaps around the propeller assembly.
