Kreg just announced the new Kreg Edge Loose Tenon Joiner, and I got some hands-on time at Woodcraft’s vendor sales conference.
Is it a Domino killer? No, and I don’t think Kreg intends it to be. This is a lower-priced option for woodworkers who want fast loose tenon joinery without spending Domino money.
The Edge is cordless, uses an oscillating cutter, has a wider fence, dust ejection ports, micro-adjustable fence height, onboard wrench storage, and compatibility with 5mm, 6mm, 8mm, and 10mm cutters and tenons. The kit is listed at $499, with the bare tool at $449.
My first impression? It’s not going to replace the Domino for people who already own one, but it could bring loose tenon joinery to a much wider audience.
