After 100%'ing Hollow Knight: Silksong, I reflected on my time with the game; it was an excellent experience, but I felt some...relief? Why that emotion?
Well checking online discourse, I quickly hit the nail on the bug—difficulty. The game is quite difficult, but what's weird, the difficulty didn't bother me all the time. Diving deeper I surmised that difficulty is isn't a problem, until it is.
Difficulty gives this needle an edge over other games, but it comes at a cost. But what negatives exactly? Join me as I unpack this complex topic to see what conclusions I can find about Silksong and the nature of challenge.
