Resident Evil 7 in 2026, how does the game hold up over nine years after it released. A lot of people really disliked the previous game in the series, Resident Evil 6, because it really didn't feel like a horror game. It was very action based and almost felt like a Call of Duty campaign. So for Resident Evil 7, they wanted to go back to the survival horror roots and make a much more dark and atmospheric game and they completely succeeded with that. This is hands down one of the scariest games that I've ever played and I just love every different aspect of the game. First off, the Baker family is incredible. Each actual, like member of the family has their own kind of genre in horror. Like Jack Baker is more of a slasher film type guy. Marguerite has her own style, and then the son is like a saw movie type character. And going through different parts of the house and facing different family members keeps the gameplay feeling very fresh. You're not just doing one kind of distinct thing for too long. This is the first game that used the RE engine and yes, it does have a little bit of graphical kinks here and there. Like Mia's hair looks a little bit odd in some points, but overall it runs really, really smoothly and it still looks pretty damn good. This is also the first Resident Evil game with the first person perspective. I think it definitely adds to the overall horror factor of this game. It's so much more scary being in first person because third person, you know, you can look around the corners and everything where this puts you right in the action. The house's layout and all the different levels are just so greatly designed for going around the tight corridors and everything. And when you have Jack stalking you down, it's just so freaking scary. You're trying to get all your different tools and everything to get through the level, but you have him always constantly stepping in the background and calling your name out. So I gotta say, Resident Evil 7 is an amazing Resident Evil game. Just a great horror game in general. It really revived the Resident Evil franchise and is one of my favorite games to this day. So if you guys are thinking about picking it up or playing it again in 2026, I cannot recommend this game enough, especially when it goes on great sales. What do you guys think about Resident Evil 7?
