City of Port Wentworth continues to discriminate, retaliate, and harass 75-year-old handicapped grandmother Georgia W. Benton by illegally taking the Trash and Recycling cans from her house. She now has no way to dispose of her trash even though all of her taxes are paid and current.
Also, since on or about March 2024, the City of Port Wentworth has purposely turned off the Water Services to ALL of the Fire Hydrants in the 100% African American neighborhood along Saussy Road, which purposely renders EVERY house in the neighborhood vulnerable to burning down due to a fire because the City’s fire trucks will NOT be able to connect to a Fire Hydrant with running water!!! This issue has been reported to the City on multiple occasions, to include directly to City Manager Steve Davis and Director of Public Works Omar Senti-Martinez with NO ACTIONS TAKEN!! Additionally,
Port Wentworth Fire Chief Lance Moore is fully aware of this and has done NOTHING to correct the situation even though it’s HIS JOB to secure the Safety and Security of ALL RESIDENTS from potential fire hazards.
Additionally, on Tuesday July 9, 2024 at approximately 9:30 AM, I called 911 to report the theft incident of someone stealing our trash cans from the property, and to report the fact that the City of Port Wentworth has turned off the water to ALL of the fire hydrants in our 100% African-American community here on Saussy Road, which is both a Public Health and Public Safety issue and Violation of the Georgia Constitution and violation of the 14th amendment to the US Constitution for the WILLFUL denial of municipal services. My call is documented via police report #240709019.
And so now all of the homes within our community now susceptible to burning down due to fire damage because there is no running water in any other fire hydrants, two specifically include the fire hydrant that is directly in front of our house located at 135 Saussy Road, Port Wentworth, GA 31407. Whereas if a fire breaks out at any of the homes in our community, the fire department will not be able to extinguish any fires because there is NO RUNNING WATER FLOWING THROUGH ANY OF THE FIRE HYDRANTS IN OUR COMMUNITY. City of Port Wentworth fire chief Lance Moore, City Manager Steve Davis, City Attorney Scott Robichaux, and Councilman Thomas Barbee are ALL Aware of this injustice and has done nothing about it over the last three months, which is again unlawful discrimination persuade to Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 Since the state of Georgia, Chatham County, and the City Of Port Wentworth are all recipient of federal funds from the US government. Neither the State of Georgia, Chatham County, nor the City of Port Wentworth our protecting our state and federal civil rights as required by the 14th amendment of the US Constitution.
This is unlawful Discrimination based on Race, Gender, Age, and Disability at its WORST in violation of the Georgia Constitution and Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964!!
