Welcome to Affro's Curiosities Season 8!
25 years... 25 YEARS! The PS2 is over 25 years old now & as someone who owned one since July 2002, I absolutely adore this console!
In 2025, I'm playing it on a regular basis thanks to the games holding up well & discovering games that I never got to try during its lifetime! However, in 2025 the retro scene is more & more expensive now, making it harder for people to get back into the world of the PS2!
What if you want to experience it but not on the PS2 itself? Emulation is one way to experience PS2 games, with PCSX2 being the most popular right now!
Even more interesting, is wanting to improve the graphics of the games, using PCSX2's feature to make this possible! For this episode, I pushed the graphics on PCSX2 to the limit! Using 5K in some titles & the texture replacement feature, PCSX2 has stepped up!
My PS2 will be using Component cables, the GBS-C at 1080p & we're using the SD2PSX to use 480i games instead of my PAL collection to try games I couldn't test before!
