Switching to Linux doesn't mean giving up every thing you know about Windows. Nor does it mean switching your Desktop in any way. Just keep running Windows but activate Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL) with Graphics support. If you further activate systemd, then you can run LInux services in the background on a Windows laptop... almost. SysstemD doesn't actually run until you've opened a Linux Terminal, which you have to keep running.
But if you do, you can get a wonderful standard environment where you can run Linux daemons under systemd. In time, you will become comfortable editing in vim because you'll start using vim to keep a daily journal. This will make you newly self-aware and broaden your perspective. You will see that Linux is not all about switching desktops, but is rather switching a way of thinking that makes you progressively less dependent on Microsoft while still using their awesome hardware.
