Canadians are eating less meat and skipping meals altogether due to rising food prices, says in-house research by the Department of Agriculture. Data follow figures showing the typical household is no longer able to meet the Canada Food Guide.
The agriculture department paid $61,704 for the research by Advanis Inc., an Edmonton pollster.
Canadians were asked, “How concerned, if at all, would you say you are about the affordability of food in Canada?” Ninety percent they were concerned, including 70 percent “very concerned.”
