Hong Kong has long been known as the crown jewel of luxury shopping and high-end fashion. For decades, the well-to-do have flocked there for its abundance of high-end stores, five-star hotels, and Michelin-starred restaurants. However, the recent rise of China as an economic power has seen the luxury market shift eastward. LVMH, the world’s largest luxury goods company, has recently decided to move its headquarters from Hong Kong to Shanghai. This move signals a shift in the luxury market from Hong Kong to mainland China, and it has caused many to wonder if Hong Kong is still the crown jewel of luxury.
