In the past Grand Champion represented the peak of Rocket League. These days we have the top players spread across 4 ranks, from GC1 to Supersonic Legend. But is reaching GC1 still the impressive feat it used to be? As rank distributions show the % of Grand Champion players is on the rise some wonder whether if the top ranks in Rocket League are becoming LESS skilled.
In this episode of Rocket League MythBusters we will explore those claims. During the last 6 seasons of Free to Play have players in GC gotten worse, better or stayed the same? And to go along with that, what exactly makes a Grand Champion player better than their peers? In the second half of this video we will dive into some detailed breakdowns of the skills that separate Platinum, Diamond, Champion and GC. By graphing out specific metrics such as Saves per Game, Boost Pad Pickups, Average Speed, Time in the Air and even Demolitions per Game we will try to see if the ranks have gotten better or worse over time.
