In Mormonism, coffee, tea, and alcohol are, essentially, prerequisites for eternal life. If Latter-day Saints must abstain from coffee/tea/alcohol (per Word of Wisdom) in order to hold a temple recommend, and if temple works are necessary for exaltation/eternal life in the Celestial Kingdom, then keeping the Word of Wisdom has functionally become necessary to having the fullness of eternal life. That's not only an unnecessary restriction—it's a false Gospel.
