Okay so Disney just greenlit a Spaceship Earth show for Disney+ and I cannot stop thinking about what that actually means for the attraction itself. Because here is the thing. Spaceship Earth is rough right now. Like genuinely rough. The ride has not had a real meaningful refurbishment in years, parts of it are looking seriously tired, and fans have been begging Disney to give it some love for a long time now.
But then this Disney+ show gets announced and suddenly my brain goes to D23.
We have seen Disney use their own content to build hype around attraction updates before. It is kind of a pattern at this point. So is this show just another piece of IP floating out there with no real connection to the parks? Or could it actually be a signal that something bigger is coming? A real refurb announcement at D23 this year feels more possible to me now than it did six months ago.
Now I am not going to pretend Disney has a perfect track record here. We have watched them try to spin attraction IP into movies and shows before and most of it just kind of disappears. Haunted Mansion. Country Bears. The Haunted Mansion again. You know the history. So the cynical take is totally fair. This could absolutely go nowhere.
But Spaceship Earth feels different to me and in this video I am breaking down exactly why. We are talking about the current state of the attraction, what a refurb could actually look like, why D23 2025 feels like the right moment for an announcement, and whether this Disney+ show is a genuine hint or just another swing and a miss from Disney's content machine.
I want to know what you think though. Do you believe a Spaceship Earth refurb is really coming?
