Is Compact Mag the Best Attachment in Payday 3? #shorts. There are a lot of different weapon attachments in Payday 3 that seem to do very little. Quite literally the majority adding or removing pixel wide changes to stats. But I recently looked at Compact Mag in a new light.
If you’ve never heard of it, Compact Mag decreases the magazine size by about 30-50% while adding about 50% more reserve ammo. So the MP7 has 30 in the mag and 200 extra without and 20 in the mag and 300 extra with. Where normally losing mag size is one of the worst things you can do to automatic weapons in games, this seems to balance the scales a bit. But it isn’t what made me excited about it. I was more excited to learn if it affected the pickup rate of ammo boxes from enemies. Because my theory is that each weapon had a different pickup rate based on a percentage of their total reserve size.
So in my testing, the MP7 with a normal mag picked up about 6-9 bullets per ammo box. But when I slapped a Compact Mag on that sucker it spiked to a whopping 6-9 bullets per ammo box… So in the end, it doesn’t seem to affect ammo pickup at all, but now we know. So with that in mind, is the Compact Mag worth using over a Quick Pull or an Extended Mag? Let me know in the comments.
