In an unscientific poll on social media, HLN viewers overwhelmingly say they believe Johnny Depp will win his $50 million defamation lawsuit against his former wife Amber Heard. Why is that?

Criminologist Casey Jordan says in cases of domestic violence, "we have a tendency to always go in the woman's favor." Still, there are "extremely rare" instances where someone may put on a "cloak of victimization and even precipitate violence against them if there is a payout for them... and it gives a bad name to legitimate domestic abuse violence victims everywhere."

Jordan says, "I don't know the truth about what happened to Amber Heard," but she believes that could explain the poll results.
