For the past decade I'd been messing around with this song and always wanted to play it, but that chromatic run was always so intimidating. But I came across @parkercc's cover and loved their arrangement, so I was inspired to give it a try! (Huge thank you!) Gotta love MOTHER 3 battle themes, I wanna do more in the future!

This makes 15 tracks I've covered from Minecraft (holy moly!!!).
Forgive me for not playing the other half of 'Danny,' I lost the pages for it and was too lazy to find them and play it!
C418 composed the music! wow!!! c418.bandcamp.comOMORI - Final Duet - PianoPSiMetronome2023-02-05 | OMORI is such an amazing game. During my playthrough I'd always been yearning to hear the full version of this theme, as you get little pieces of it here and there throughout the soundtrack. Needless to say the ending gave it in full, accompanied by an overwhelming surge of emotion. If you're interested in the game I highly recommend playing it first before listening to this cover!
I'm also back from the dead! Lots of new changes in my life but going to make the time to continue posting covers as often as I can. 1 per month is my aim for now!
Next cover will be an arrangement of my own from another indie title with a highly underrated OST.

ver. 6Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins - Overworld Theme - PianoPSiMetronome2021-03-05 | I first discovered this song through Tee Lopes’ remix, and was hooked ever since. It’s probably been about a year since I began learning this, but with school and other projects keeping me busy I haven’t had a good chance to grind it out until now. This is probably one of the hardest songs I’ve played, and I’m going to continue working to polish a bunch of other songs I’ve been playing for years now. There is one song I want to play soon from an indie that came out recently however...
Gameplay obtained from: youtu.be/X2GP5naCbjgMinecraft - Pigstep - PianoPSiMetronome2020-12-25 | Merry Christmas! Probably the last thing anyone would expect for the holiday season, but I've been wanting to cover Pigstep for a while. It's surprisingly satisfying to play on piano! Hope you enjoy :)
Looking to squeeze as many more piano covers as I can during my holiday break. I've been quite busy these past couple of months, as I'm composing for a mobile game! I hope you can forgive the significant delay of piano covers this year. It'll be hard to say whether I can continue to consistently upload regularly for the future, but I promise I'll have something for you guys to listen to as time goes on. Whether that be new remixes, compositions, or piano covers.
For this cover I sourced reference material from lots of different arrangements, but I primarily used Sheet Music Boss' youtube.com/watch?v=tvEyyjHSU88
Original song by Lena Raine (The new Nether songs are soooo well done) youtube.com/watch?v=R9eC3WBRKeYLegends of Runeterra | Call of the Mountain - Sound Redesign ProjectPSiMetronome2020-11-16 | This is my final project for VFS' Sound Design program. All design, recording (Foley, ADR), editing, and mixing done by myself. This is not an official Riot Games project, but a final assignment for school.
Music provided by 5 Alarm music. I did not compose any music in this video (except the credits music).
Video produced by Unit Image in partnership with Riot Games Directed by Ben Hibon
'Legends of Runeterra | Call of the Mountain - Sound Redesign by Alex Castonguay' was created under Riot Games' "Legal Jibber Jabber" policy using assets owned by Riot Games. Riot Games does not endorse or sponsor this project.
I'll talk about my experience during the production of this project here!
This project was extremely challenging, but as you'd expect, it was extremely satisfying to finish and an invaluable experience. I'm glad to have enrolled at VFS and learned all that I did.
When I saw this on the day it released, I knew right away this had to be my final. It's action packed, has a strong narrative, decent length, and not too much dialogue (I was scared of finding a voice actor last minute, but it worked out!). Thank you so much to Riot Games and Unit Image for creating the most amazing cinematic!!!
I was honestly really worried I wouldn't get a good result with the Stellacorn's voice. I had tried animal noises from libraries and such, but it's hard to convey emotion with straight goat bleats and pitching them...Eventually I tried my own voice with some pitch modulation, and I'm really happy with how it turned out.
Illi, the main character, has hooves for feet!!!! and so does the Stellacorn!!!! Of course I couldn't pass up this Monty Python moment, so I went to superstore and snagged myself some coconut shells to use as a layer for their feet. It's hilarious how well they work!
There are quite a lot of whoosh sounds in this project, and most of them were created using 'Whoosh' by Tonsturm. I layered sounds of synths from 'IcePad,' slowed down glass, and chimes to make the Stellacorns' sound profile when they fly around. Diana's Q shot and dashes were done using the same method with metal groans and IcePad as well. Their clash that generates the shockwave was done with wind flutter sounds and IcePa...you get the idea.
I would've liked to compose for this project, but I'm not confident in my ability to make orchestral stuff, and I really wanted to focus on just the sound design. I possibly may make a version in the future with all music composed by me...
A special thanks to Veronica Nesbitt for her time and talent on this project, my family that helped out with Diana and Leona's voices, and Jordan Ruhala for being my foley recordist!
And a huge thanks to my classmates from SD95 for sticking together through all those zoom classes, and of course the staff at VFS for their guidance throughout the year.
I'm looking forward to whatever sound/music opportunities await!DELTARUNE - The Legend (UNDERTALE 5th Anniversary Concert Edition) - PianoPSiMetronome2020-10-31 | Happy 2nd Anniversary DELTARUNE! This arrangement of 'The Legend' was performed by Toby Fox himself after UNDERTALE's 5th Anniversary Concert livestream. It came as such a shock to me to actually hear him play, and it took me a while to realize it was a Deltarune song once the intro started. I loved his new rendition so much I had to play it ASAP. Huge thanks to IronInvoker47 for transcribing it so fast and with such accuracy!
Of course like most arrangements I get my hands on, I tend to put my own spin on it. So this version I played is not what was transcribed. My ending is different than the original, so I hope you enjoy what variations I made!
Sorry about the grainy picture quality, I keep forgetting to set up some decent lighting. Also try to pretend my face isn't there LOL

I wasn't sure I'd be able to have the time to do it for a 4th time....but I was really hellbent on completing a full year's worth of this challenge, so I made it happen. I think this is definitely my best 21days so far. Of course, it will probably be the last as the #21daysofVGM is now the #7daysofVGM, and will occur every month instead of every 3 months.
I think this is a good change of direction because similar to studying for a test, cramming studying in at the end causes you to forget everything later. Coverage over a prolonged period is best for retaining information, and I think this new 7 days challenge is going to reward consistency more than the 21 days did.
I also got some fresh new thumbnails! (The old ones I made myself and I had no idea what to do lol) Thanks to my sister for making them! You can find her channel here: youtube.com/user/Meggagirl2

Sorry for the lack of uploads. School has kept me busy, but I'm still doing stuff for my channel on the side. With COVID-19 closing down my school for the time being, it's given me some time to seriously practice. I hope everyone stays safe out there!

After the first 5 days, school took up most of my time (9-12hr days) and so I spent most of my time composing during breaks and finalizing them once I got home. Although it was tough, I think my creativity really benefitted from the crunch time! Let me know which songs you liked!

The school I go to now is for Sound Design for film & games. It lasts 1 year which is nice, but unfortunately a lot of work is compressed in that 1 year. I'm really enjoying it, but I won't be able to upload as often as I used to, especially with piano :(. There is also a high possibility I won't be doing the 21 days in April, which sucks because I would really like to complete a full year of it. On the flip side, the quality of my future content should improve, so I'm looking forward to that! I graduate this October, so it won't be long.

(Ragtime Arrangement) - OTHER: Her Loving EmbracePSiMetronome2019-12-16 | During one of the weekly contests hosted by OTHER's game developer, Quincy Pringle, I got to listen to a ton of new and cool remixes from the game's OST. Orange Pinecone's ragtime arrangement of 'How'd We Do' caught my interest in particular, and showcased the song in an amazing way! I've been waiting to catch a break in order to play this, and since I like reading sheet music more than MIDI, I decided to transcribe it. Hope you guys enjoy it too!

This time around I wanted to make use of more orchestral instruments. Orchestral has always been something I wanted to do, but recreating the instruments is pretty tough for MIDI. Gonna keep working at it.
I also wanted to change the way I approached composing. Essentially this means that I have a form of workflow; I compose a chord progression or melody that extends for 8 bars or so, maybe loop it again, then switch to another melody that would complement it for another 8 bars. Then repeat. Sometimes instead of making a second melody, I'd just overlay a new melody on the original. TL;DR I just want to stop doing the same thing everytime.
The best examples that I feel I succeeded in changing my composition style were Days 2 & 3. Maybe Day 8 because I tried really hard to give its chord progressions variety. Eventually I put less focus on my comp style just because it was taking me too long to make anything. Maybe this just means my current comp style is good for these challenges, but not for stuff in the long run. Either way it's given me a lot to think about.
And if you were keeping up with Inktober, you'll notice some of my song titles use its daily themes! I started doing so at Day 8 (Frail = Granny), and did it more consistently throughout the month.
After day 21, I just did small chiptune stuff because I wanted to focus my free time on other things. Plus school is starting for me now.
See you again in January! (I think it's in January?)OTHER: Her Loving Embrace - Trouble Finds Me (PSiMetronome Remix)PSiMetronome2019-10-28 | If you thought the first battle theme wasn't enough of a bop, then you're in luck. This is the first game that's made me intentionally look for more enemies to kill just to hear the music...
This is my submission for the game's official weekly challenge, and I couldn't have had more fun arranging this. This is definitely one of my fav's from the soundtrack!
I really wanted to spend more time on the second loop to add some variations, but I have school starting for me right now and it ate up most of my time. Although it's always a good feeling to meet a deadline!

OTHER: Her Loving Embrace plays like a traditional JPRG with an innovative battle system, challenging yet satisfying puzzles, and an intriguing story. Not to mention the catchy and groovy soundtrack! This game is still early in development, but you can play the free demo to try it out yourself. It takes about 2-3 hours to complete. I think this game has the potential to blow up the internet the same way UNDERTALE did, and I’m looking forward to covering more of its soundtrack!
The game is in its final stages of funding, so try out the free demo and lend a hand if you enjoyed it! I certainly did!
I regret not learning the victory theme and playing it at the end of this song, but maybe I’ll save that for another battle theme down the road…Dragon Quest - Overture (Main Theme) - PianoPSiMetronome2019-10-10 | ALL RISE FOR THE JRPG NATIONAL ANTHEM.
I'm not too familiar with the DQ series, but ever since Hero came out in Smash I've been playing him nonstop. Character is a damn drug.
So I have 'Dragon Quest' in the title but there are different variations of it throughout the series. This version I believe fits closest to the most recent release (DQ XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age), so I used that for the art. I guess I could've used the opening cinematic but I don't wanna push Square Enix's buttons.
I took inspiration for the second half from FamilyJules' cover; it was just so fast I loved it. And because I turned off my metronome for that part I kinda sped up the last bit. Oops! And I gotta remember to tighten my tripod, camera has been jittery lately.
HOES MADMOTHER/Earthbound - Pollyanna - PianoPSiMetronome2019-10-08 | Guess I had to do this at some point, right? I actually never felt like learning it, but my sis printed it out and I just started doing it for fun, which is exactly what I did with this cover. Just went with swing cuz it was fun!
This song takes many forms throughout the mother series (Home Sweet Home, A Certain Someone's Memories). I could've put together a ton of gameplay, but it didn't really fit to me. So just use your imagination :^)
Original: youtube.com/watch?v=2w6siYk_Ge0[Chill / LoFi] - Minecraft - C418 - Far (PSiMetronome Remix)PSiMetronome2019-10-01 | No your computer isn't lagging, it's just my attempt to make something sound slightly bad on purpose?
Been listening to a lot of LoFi recently and I'm in love. Minecraft was probably the first soundtrack to get me into slower music, so it's a perfect fit!
This started because I was sick and woke up suddenly at 4am and had the sudden urge to look for Minecraft lofi remixes. Far is my favourite disc so I just gave it a shot for fun. I tried to make this a low effort project but still managed to put in over 8 hours anyway. It doesn't sound as 'LoFi' as I'd like so I'm just gonna slap the 'Chill' label on there and call it a day haha.
I have been practicing this song ever since I arranged it, but I have been always setback due to minor technicalities. There are so many small things in this cover that I practiced for weeks, then get rusty at again because I spent time practicing other stuff. I decided to get it done once and for all this week, and man it feels good. Just looked at my accumulated time of tries recording and its 2+ hrs :O

Around the start of this year, I was inspired by VGM composer Mark Sparling on twitter to begin making a short song every day. The first time I did it I had to overcome many mental blocks and procrastination habits; I only lasted 4 days before I stopped. I picked it up again this past June, and have been going strong since.
I have been preoccupied with a job this July, working at least 10 hours everyday. Each song has a minimum of 1 hour of effort put into it (yes even day 15...). While it's been tough, I really appreciate the discipline this challenge forces upon me.
These past 3 weeks have no doubt proven to me that creativity is a muscle that must be exercised daily in order to keep the process of creating easier. I'm looking forward to this October when it starts again!
Day 11's 'Here Goes No Something' notes: I was challenged by a friend to create a song without hearing any of the instruments or melody until I completed the song. The original recording of this song was the first time I had ever heard it. Originally I had picked a really bad flute sample and made the guitar too quiet, so the version in this video has the flute sample changed and the guitar volume increased. All melody/drums are the same. Didn't turn out too bad!
Of course I highly recommend this to any starting/professional composers out there, this challenge seriously helps. Don't be afraid to make anything. Making bad music still counts as making something, and is way better than making nothing!

This cover is a little different this time around because I had misplaced the video footage. I had actually recorded this around February, but held off on uploading it because I wanted to find a better arrangement. I did find an arrangement I liked, but I got progressively busier and recently have been preoccupied with my summer job and thus could not relearn the song in time. I hope you can enjoy it nonetheless!

Took a while, but this was super fun to make! Smash Bros. is a fun video game. Apologies to anyone I ever grabbed.

real montage will come out later todayDELTARUNE - The Legend - PianoPSiMetronome2019-01-14 | I skipped hearing about the story on my first playthrough because I thought it would be funny... Piano is also WAY off pitch because I was fooling around with it and forgot to change it back lol
stay tuned for a rude cover soon!Super Smash Bros. Brawl - Final Destination - PianoPSiMetronome2019-01-01 | God I love this one; so much fun to play. Also happy new year!!! Definitely my favourite FD theme, piano can never do it justice.
This is also the first song on my new keyboard! Recording is so much more efficient now, and its got so many killer voices. Had a lot of trouble deciding which one to use! Not to mention the wooden keys and how they are perfectly weighted. Old one had sticking keys that made it difficult to play softly. Model is the Yamaha P-515.

This game holds a special place in my heart, as it was the first in the series I played, around 8 years ago! I played Smash 4 competitively for over 2 years, and now I'm beginning my journey with Ultimate. Loving the new game so far!
This might be the toughest cover I've ever recorded. Spent around 3 months trying every week when I had the time to sit down and grind at it, but to no avail. Winter break finally gave me the time to focus on it more. Definitely not perfect, but I'm proud of the improvement I made.
This is also the last song I will be recording on this piano! Getting a new one for Christmas tomorrow!!! The keys have started sticking, and its recording to USB feature has had too many issues in writing to memory. It served me well these past 5 years.
I have 3 more songs lined up after this I will record ASAP, so stay tuned for that!
Been getting a lot of subs lately, so if you're new thanks for checking me out! I'm not very consistent but I'm trying to learn and upload as many songs as I can!
This is 1 hour late but hope you had a good Christmas!Synthesia - DELTARUNE - Chaos KingPSiMetronome2018-11-03 | I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS GAME IS REAL, I LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT IT I literally dropped everything to arrange this shit as quickly as possible. Pretty satisfied with the outcome, though I kinda rushed the bass in the middle part so it's not super precise in terms of rhythm and possibly notes. Let me know what your favourite song from the new game is! Definitely gonna do some covers for this game soon!
Original: youtube.com/watch?v=BlfSQKSkXo8Minecraft - Alpha (Credits Theme) - PianoPSiMetronome2018-08-30 | This is definitely one of my favourite video game tracks of all time. The emotional power this song radiates will resonate with me forever.
This piece holds a lot of meaning for me; it was the first song I arranged by ear for sheet music and performed. It feels good to finally wrap it up. Sorry it took a couple of years, it definitely didn’t need to.
To be honest, I am probably 85% satisfied with this cover. Although I did my best to bring my peak performance, but I can’t help feel like I still fell short. I noticed many errors and inconsistencies in my sheets, and I even missed a simple note at the start. Hopefully someone in the future can further develop it, or even provide a better arrangement. I would definitely be down to relearn this masterpiece with the help of someone more experienced.
My keyboard is also starting to get some sticky keys too :(
This piece is severely underrated, and I hope you can find the same enjoyment it brought me.
Also the end poem is a fucking trip. I love it.Earthbound - Because I Love You - PianoPSiMetronome2018-06-17 | A song suggested by a very good friend. This is a favourite I've been wanting to do for a while anyway, so I tried at making an arrangement that would better suit piano than guitar. Hope you Enjoy!
Sheet music: drive.google.com/open?id=12xilyL8GA0fWHUFDTQqRVX1j6NoHYh2q (Not transcribed for what I played, I just used this as a reference. I couldn't find it online again when I looked so I scanned my copy and have it hosted on my drive. Excuse me and my sis' notes. Something tells me it was from the original MOTHER 2 sheet music book though...)Cave Story - Mini Medley (Mischievous Robot, On to Grasstown, Safety) - PianoPSiMetronome2018-05-30 | Cave Story just has a lot of songs that are really easy and fun to play on piano, OK?!?!?! Lemme know which one was your favourite!
0:00 Mischievous Robot 0:58 On to Grasstown 2:13 Safety
Always been a favourite and I honestly couldn't hold back when I saw that literally no one has this arranged on paper yet????? Why is everyone ignoring this BEAUTY!? THIS SONG IS AMAZING im honestly so disappointed but it's ok I've done my best so that we can enjoy it on piano and hopefully translate it to other instruments in the future.
This song is so cool because it uses a lot of fun grace notes (notes that are played very quickly that are followed by a normal note) and also is in Swing 16, so only 16th notes are swung and I found that to be so neat.
Original: youtube.com/watch?v=itQ94NuNVjoSynthesia - Mother 3 - Adolescence (Toilet Cows Recommendation)PSiMetronome2018-03-27 | As suggested by PK Blueberry, I tried doing something with this song! There are a lot of instruments going on in the original, which made it difficult to translate to piano, but it's a real nice piece to listen to. I'll probably do more soon!
Also hope you liked the idea of combining the arrangement and the original together!
MIDI: drive.google.com/open?id=13aOwOY0SuPDIgLkCOFQKtvYLZN8if4lkSonic 2 - Boss Theme - PianoPSiMetronome2018-02-21 | Super fun theme from a super fast series. I played it a little faster (20bpm faster) than the original just because I had my own thing goin on with this song. It's not played exactly like the original in terms of dynamics, tempo, and bass, but I just enjoyed giving it my own twist. Hopefully you can enjoy it too!
played by: someone (i think it was me???)Ori and the Blind Forest - Light of Nibel - PianoPSiMetronome2017-12-25 | Such a gorgeous game with an amazing soundtrack. This was so enjoyable to play, both the game and the song. I straight up bought the game when I heard the piano solo around 1:11 lol.
For real tho a piano version of this song doesn't do it justice, check out the game and its soundtrack!
