Hey guys I have a serious passion for bread but don't have the patience or the time to make it. I wanted to give soda bread a try and couldn't believe how simple and easy it is to make. I hope you will enjoy the video and thank you for watching.
Irish Soda Bread
Ingredients
4 cups flour
4 tbsp sugar
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup softend butter
1/4 melted butter
1 1/4 cup buttermilk
1 egg
Directions
1. Preheat oven to 375
2. Grease a baking sheet
3. Mix together flour, sugar, baking soda, baking powder and salt
4. Add 1/2 cup of softened butter, 1 cup of the buttermilk and egg to dry ingredients and mix until combined
5. Flour your work surface and turn out dough, knead briefly
6. Shape dough into a round ball and place on greased sheet
7. In a separate bowl whisk together 1/4 cup melted butter and 1/4 cup of buttermilk
8. Brush loaf with buttermilk mixture (brush loaf every 15 minutes while baking)
9. Cut an X on the top of bread
10. Bake 45 minutes to 60 minutes until a toothpick inserted in middle comes out clean
