On 30 July 2026 the IRGC Aerospace Force announced it had destroyed three U.S. F-35s and heavily damaged three more at Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan. U.S. Central Command answered in a single sentence: no American aircraft were destroyed or damaged, and every missile and drone was intercepted or failed to reach its target. We break down the F-35A Lightning II, the layered air and missile defense architecture that actually saved those jets, and the five Iranian ballistic missiles Jordanian air defenses took down over their own kingdom. Plus the full sequence — the 28 July attempted surprise attack, CENTCOM's heavy wave of strikes against dozens of IRGC targets on the 29th, the cancelled strike package on Iranian energy infrastructure, and negotiations beginning Monday.
