In the High Court in Dublin, a retired British Army officer said he believed that two brothers Michael Murphy and Thomas Murphy, who are suing the ‘Sunday Times’ in a libel action, were the leaders of the most successful Irish Republican Army (IRA) unit in Northern Ireland in the 1970s. Two senior Gardaí also said the brothers were involved with the IRA.
