Harday Gupta shares how saying “yes” to opportunities, even without having all the answers, transformed his journey from a backbencher into an entrepreneur and author. Through his experiences in building a company, entering the SME IPO ecosystem and growing a venture to over ₹25 crore in annual turnover, he explores the power of curiosity, relationships and continuous learning. The talk challenges us to rethink expertise and reminds us that sometimes, the willingness to learn and take the right opportunity matters more than knowing everything from the start. Harday Gupta is an entrepreneur and communication professional who built his career around one simple philosophy: never say no to an opportunity to learn. A Tourism Management graduate, he entered the communication industry after being advised to explore a different career path. Over seven years, he worked across three agencies in Noida, Chandigarh and Delhi before launching his own venture. What began with strong industry relationships and a willingness to learn eventually led him into the SME IPO ecosystem, where his company has managed more than 75 IPO mandates since 2023. His work helped the venture grow from zero to a turnover exceeding ₹25 crore in a year. Alongside entrepreneurship, Harday pursued a PhD, completing his thesis in three and a half years, and has authored a book with another in the works. His journey reflects curiosity, adaptability, relationship-building and the courage to embrace opportunities even when they fall outside one's expertise. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at ted.com/tedx
