Friendly Review taking a look at the iPhone X / iPhone 10 (bit.ly/2hUfe92) Face ID Unlock feature. We wanted to see if a dog could unlock the iPhone X using Face ID. The dog Bella is a toy-sized golden doodle. She has a great temperament and loves kids. I was able to get our dog to setup Face ID multiple times but never was able to unlock the phone unless the phone caught a glimpse of me. After a lot of experimentation, we found that the iPhone 10 would see me in the background during the setup, and then complete the setup using the dog. After completion, the dog could not unlock the phone, but I could sometimes. It wasn't a great Face ID setup since it only used a glimpse of my face. I also used the MeasureKit app to see what was going on. You can see that it doesn't pick up on the dog with the face mesh, but it does find me even if I'm in the back corner of the camera view.
