It’s such a strange fault and why on earth does the problem go away after 7 to 11 hours ?
FYI :
iPhone 12 Pro Max with iOS 26.2
Windows 11 with iTunes 12.13.10.3
The phone has 162.01Gb free storage and has worked flawlessly for 5 years, never dropped.
This problem shows up after I have connected my iPhone to my pc (via lightening cable) and used iTunes to copy files off using the file transfer feature.
I've done this for years and years and no issues, but as of Sunday 2nd August 2026, once Ive copied my files off the apps no longer work on the iPhone, they open but shut down
instantly as you can see in my video. No issues with the built-in apps, they all work fine.
But as you can see most of the apps I have had to install (apart from Wetherspoons app and Chrome) will simply not run any more. Nothing fixes the issue, the phone is pretty much useless until 7 to 11 hours have passed, they it magically starts working again.
Such a bizarre issue, and despite looking on the internet I have not found anyone else with this issue. Ive tried all the recommendations that people give
for issues with apps not running but nothing has worked.
What I have done to try and fix it :
1. On iTunes I have tried logging out of my account and signing back in again. Didn’t fix the issue.
2. On the iPhone I have done the following :
Forced a restart by pressing volume up, volume down holding then the power button until the Apple logo appears, release the side button. Didn’t fix the issue.
3. Pressed and held volume button and the power button until the power-off slider appears, powered it off and back on again. Didn’t fix the issue.
4. Tried deleting an app and reinstalling it. Didn’t fix the issue.
I have been using iPhones since the 3GS model in 2009 and I have found them to be rock solid, never had a single issue ever in 17 years so it’s quite
a shock to see this problem. And it’s only when these things happen that you realise just how much you need your phone.
At one point I was thinking is it something to do with iTunes and authorised apps and something has got corrupted so when it syncs with the phone its
telling it they are not authorised but if thats the case then how come the apps start working again 7-11 hours after syncing on iTunes?
Please let me know if you have had this issue and what was your solution to resolving it as this is a right pain.
