The Backpacking 10x10x10 Challenge reaches Iowa... and this is the episode where things got real.
What looked like a routine 10-mile backpacking trip quickly turned into one of the toughest days of the entire challenge. Between reroutes, flooded creek crossings, relentless elevation gain, and oppressive summer heat, Iowa pushed us to our limits.
At several points, it felt like the challenge itself was hanging in the balance.
But when things got tough, our campsite support team stepped up in a big way.
Ice waiting at camp. Firewood ready to go. Live Mearffs. Encouragement when we needed it most. And when a mission-critical problem threatened the journey, they even jumped in to make a truck run that helped keep the Backpacking 10x10x10 Challenge alive.
Join Rugged Mountain Dad, Rugged Mountain Sister, and Rugged Mountain Mister as we continue our mission to backpack 10 miles in each of 10 states over 10 consecutive days while raising money for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
