Hello, I’m Tom Grinyer and I’m the Chief Executive Officer of the Institute of Physics.
This is my first year at the Institute and last month it was wonderful to see the IOP Awards celebrate excellence in so many different areas of physics.
I want to thank everyone who nominated and voted – and to send my heartfelt congratulations to all the winners.
Of course, that means it’s now time to think about next year’s awards.
Nominations are open – and it is my great honour to invite you to nominate yourselves – or others – for the 2023 IOP Awards.
We want to receive nominations from the UK, Ireland and internationally, representing all areas of physics – and physicists working in all types of roles.
We’re especially keen to receive more nominations for women – and for physicists from a truly diverse range of backgrounds.
We want to receive more nominations for technicians – and for nominations to represent as many different institutions and schools as possible.
Remember – you don’t have to wait to be nominated, you can nominate yourself, so please do consider this route.
But I’d also urge you to take a moment to think about the amazing work that you’re aware of – and to consider nominating someone this year.
