Ralph Ellison's debut novel Invisible Man explores the complex themes of racial justice, racial identity, and the search for one's authentic self. It does all of this with great artistic integrity and ingenuity that was truly groundbreaking in its time.

In this video I take a deep dive into the main themes and surrealist approach to the narrative. I also give a bit of background on Ellison's life and work, the novel's initial reception and its legacy.
