The New Travel | Investigating the Migrant Crisis in New York City @TheNewTravel | Uploaded June 2024 | Updated October 2024, 6 hours ago.
On a recent trip to NYC, I visited midtown Manhattan and talked with migrants. My intention was simple: to give the people who have been the topic of so many conversations in New York and across America, a chance to speak for themselves.
Each migrant who agreed to be filmed is showed in the video - that is to say, no one is edited out to try and push an agenda or point of view. In fact, certain points of view could be said to be contradicting each other. There is the man who wants to be a construction worker, who says without hesitation that he prefers it here to in Venezuela. Then, there's the woman with her daughter who didn't want to leave and says the USA will never replace her home country.
It goes without saying that each human on his earth has their own point of view and their own path to follow. This is just a brief glimpse into the lives of a few humans who have walked a particularly difficult path. Politics aside, I hope that this project can provide insight into their situation. Truth can be found through listening to people with an open mind.
And I'd like to thank each of you for taking the time to listen to this video today.
