In this video, we tell the stories of brave inventors who tested their own discoveries and tragically lost their lives in the process. Learn about the lives of Franz Reichelt, Horace Lawson Hunley, and Thomas Andrews, who risked everything to push technology forward. Stay until the end to uncover the secrets of history's most daring yet fatal experiments.
Franz Reichelt, born in 1878 in Austria, moved to Paris and began developing a parachute suit to save aviators. He died in 1912 after jumping from the Eiffel Tower in a failed attempt to test his invention.
Horace Lawson Hunley, born in 1823 in Tennessee, dedicated his life to creating the first submarines. He died in 1863 during a test of his submarine, which later proved successful but did not survive its historic mission.
