This is a slightly jazzy, warmed up version of J.S. Bach’s Invention
in d minor, #4 BWV 775. The bones of the original Invention are there, but warmer
harmonies, use of pedal, and inverted melodic themes bring a fresh sound to the
composition originally performed in 1723. This can serve as an introduction to the
Inventions, or can be used as a way to motivate a reluctant student.
