A scary situation! But because our policies were backed up, we can easily fix this. Back in our management tool, we'll find the "Default compliance policy for Android," and simply convert it into a new template. We can give it a friendly name and description to make it easy to find later.
Managing hundreds of policies in Microsoft Intune can be complex. What happens if a critical policy is changed by mistake, or even deleted? Recovering quickly is essential. This is where a powerful tool can help. Let's see how you can easily back up, restore, standardize, and redeploy your Intune policies in just a few clicks.
Here, we see all the policies automatically discovered from our Intune environment. Each one has a complete version history. Let's look at this "DoNotSyncBrowserSettings" policy. We can see all the details and a history of every backup.
The user clicks "View" on a policy, then clicks the "Restore" button. An error message for a failed backup appears.
Restoring is as simple as clicking a button. While this BETA feature had a brief hiccup, let's try another policy. We'll select "Turn off SyncMySettings" and restore it to an earlier version.
The user clicks "Restore" on another policy. They confirm the action, and a "Backup Successful!" message appears.
And just like that, the policy is restored to its previous state. You can even see the exact technical changes that were made, giving you full visibility.
But what about preventing mistakes in the first place? You can standardize your configurations by converting any existing policy into a reusable template. First, let's link this "Cross Devices Clipboard" policy to a template that has already been created. The system is smart enough to suggest a match.

Now, let's see how to create a new template from scratch. Imagine we've accidentally deleted all our Android compliance policies directly in Intune.
The screen switches to the Microsoft Intune portal, and the user deletes several policies until none are left.

With our template ready, we can now fix the problem in Intune. We just need to deploy it. We'll select our template, choose the Intune tenant we want to send it to, and pick the correct version.
