Video Updates from Dr. Abby Gondek, Morgenthau Scholar in Residence: Henry Morgenthau Jr. Holocaust Collections Project, FDR Presidential Library.
This is part 2 of the introduction to Dr. Gondek's role at the FDR Presidential Library and the Morgenthau Holocaust Collections Project. Gondek explains how to use the digitized Morgenthau Diaries and Records of the War Refugee Board via FRANKLIN, the Library's online research portal. These documents are available for open access! She demonstrates how she used these resources for a blog about Henrietta Klotz and an online exhibit about Jewish refugee children in France & the struggle to get them to Spain and Portugal. Gondek briefly discusses the key themes of a part of the exhibit - the conflicts between two Jewish organizations (the World Jewish Congress and the Joint Distribution Committee) about where the Jewish children should be sent (Palestine or elsewhere).
