Introducing the WHOI Schiller Center for Reef Solutions — a bold new vision for the future of coral reefs. Thanks to a transformative $25 million gift from Phil Schiller and Kim Gassett-Schiller — one of the largest philanthropic commitments in WHOI's history, and the largest ever dedicated to coral reefs — Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution is launching an interdisciplinary center to advance coral reef research and solutions worldwide.
Led by Inaugural Director Amy Apprill, the Schiller Center brings together WHOI's expertise across robotics, data science, chemistry, ecology, physics, acoustics, and marine policy — building on decades of leadership in labs, on reefs, and in communities around the world.
In this video, Amy shares her vision for the Center, why WHOI is uniquely positioned to lead this work, and what's now possible for coral reefs because of this gift.
