The Random Search Selector is a compact electronic device with an on-board processor which incorporates a randomiser algorithm.
The unit is designed to totally eliminate any risk of accusations of prejudice or favouritism against the user, when selecting just some individuals from a group, vehicles from a queue, etc., for some form of special attention such as searching or checking.
And because it delivers a totally unbiased result every time, there is no risk of the operator (or their employer) finding themselves on the wrong end of a costly “No Win – No Fee” legal action!
There are a variety of static and mobile units to choose from, but in principle, they all operate in a similar fashion.
Each time the large red “Activation Button” on the unit is pressed, the unit illuminates one of the “Result Indicators”, which will typically show a “Pass” in which case no further action is required, or “Search” which means the pre-defined special action should be undertaken.
Some units feature a simple Pass or Fail result, whilst others allow for two different Fail results, each of which could indicate a different special action. Illuminated Indicator Labels are available with various text including Pass, Search, Check, Drugs and Alcohol.
The user simply sets the percentage of activations that they want to result in “Fail” result which will require some form of special action, using the internal dip switches on the unit. Setting the dipswitches is quick and easy and the percentage can be set at any level in 1% increments.
